Family + Newborn Photography in Memphis

WHAT TYPE OF PHOTOGRAPHY ARE YOU/WHAT IS YOUR STYLE? My work is authentic, sentimental, moving, and whimsical with a fine art quality. I am a lifestyle photographer, which means I incorporate some of both the traditional and documentary styles in order to create real, authentic, connected moments. These carefully curated moments create heartfelt, meaningful images that will be treasured in your family for generations. I will provide a generous gallery of images that will showcase who you and your family are in this very moment becoming part of your family’s story. They will become valuable heirlooms for generations to come. I am not chasing after the “perfect Christmas card photo” where everyone is posed stiffly and awkwardly smiling at the camera. I will likely include photos of everyone smiling at the camera but it will never look forced or awkward. I am after more authentic and genuine connection where the focus is on each other, not me or the camera.

WHERE WILL MY SESSION BE HELD?  I am a natural light, on location photographer. I take most of my outdoor sessions either at Shelby Farms, Botanic Gardens, or Overton Park. I am always open to new locations if you have something in mind. Via email, we can decide on the location if you have something in mind or have any questions. Newborn sessions are done in your home.

WHEN DO NEWBORN SESSIONS OCCUR?  I prefer to do most newborn sessions within the first month of the baby’s life. However, my newborn sessions are naturally posed and are baby led allowing for flexibility in scheduling.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? It is best to wear something that makes you feel comfortable and that is your own personal style. If you have specific questions on attire, we can discuss via email.

WILL I GET MY DIGITAL PHOTOS AFTER THE SHOOT? My pricing is all inclusive. I offer one simple, all-inclusive option in which you receive all the high-resolution digital files delivered in an online gallery where you can directly download with a print release. A minimum of 50 digitals files will be available to you (but usually there are more!), in both color and black and white within 3 weeks from your session.  You will also have the option to purchase prints and products directly from a professional print lab within your online gallery for an additional cost if you desire.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY PHOTOS? Within 3 weeks of your photoshoot, you will receive a link to a private online gallery where you can download your images and place print orders, if desired.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHICH IMAGES TO INCLUDE IN MY GALLERY? I look through every single photo taken at your session and choose the best images. I am looking for the images that best represent you and your family and me as the artist. I guarantee a minimum of 50 images, but I often include more.

DO YOU OFFER MINI-SESSIONS? I typically stay away from doing any sort of mini session because it is not conducive to my preferred style of photography. Like I said, I am not after the stiffly posed, awkwardly smiling, “perfect” shot. It would be nearly impossible to create meaningful, connected images in such an extremely short period of time. This does not mean I never do them, but if I do, they are very different than the work you see in my portfolio.

If I hold mini sessions this year, they will be held on one or two particular days, in 10 to 15-minute increments, and with very limited spots available. If this is something you are more interested in, you can join my mailing list to be the first to know if/when I drop mini session dates. I want to stress that mini sessions will not have the same feel of the work you see on my website or in my portfolio.

HOW MUCH DOES A SESSION COST? My pricing is all-inclusive. You pay $550 ($600 for Newborn) + tax and you will receive ALL the digital files . There is $150 non-refundable deposit due when booking to secure your session date, with the remainder due the day prior to your scheduled session. The deposit is transferrable if anything has to be rescheduled.
